This Thomas who married Elizabeth Pettifers can't be the Thomas born to Edward & Elizabeth (Nicholas) Baston in 1769  as he was buried 1795 aged 25 years.  It is probably therefore, the Thomas born 1761 to William & Elizabeth (Skinner) Baston although one reservation is that Thomas' burial aged 65 makes him born about 1763.

We know for Elizabeth's 1742 Will that William had a son John and that is why he is added in here.
There is an entry in the registers for Ardington for a John being received into the Church 17th January 1779 and also a burial entry for a John 14th April 1779 although this may be a base child to one of his daughters?

  160 M iii

Important - according to Edward's burial record he should have been born in 1752, but this is the only Edward anywhere near that date.  All the names seem right, so I've temporarily added him here, but it now seems likely he is not related to Thomas as I've found a removal order for Edward's son, Edward moving him from Culham to Shinfield, Berkshire (near Swallowfield).  There was also a Henry & Lucy Bassen at Swallowfield, Berks at the same time and this Henry is probably Edward's brother.  There is a baptism of a Edward Burson 1753 Banbury, Oxon who is a likely candidate.
  161 M iv

Marriage Notes:

The fact that they got married in Oxford & not Standlake is indicative that Mary was possibly under age.  "Before Hardwicke's Marriage Act of 1753 there was no lower legal age of marriage, except during the 1650's when it was 16 for men and 14 for women. In 1753 it was fixed at 14 for men and 12 for women and remained at that until the Age of Marriage Act 1929 when it was raised to 16 for both."
Above taken verbatim from The Family Tree Detective by Colin D Rogers.
Also in the 1700's she would have been old enough to be married according to both church and civil law, however the marriage could not legally have been consumated until she reached the age of consent of 16.
