Spinster do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and
form following That is to say first I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty
God hoping and assuredly believing through the merrits and passion of my Lord
and saviour Jesus Christ to be eternally saved and to inherit everlasting glory
and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my
Executor herein after named and concerning my worldly estate as it hath pleased
God to bless me with I dispose of the same as follows.
First I give and
bequeath unto my sister Deborah the wife of John Cook all that my half
yard-lands containing by estimation ten acres 80 the more or less lying in the
common fields of the said East Hendred with all and every the appurtences
thereunto belonging which I hold by Copy of Court Roll to hold to she my said
sister Deborah Cook and to her heirs forever after. I give and bequeath unto
my brother Thomas Baston five pounds of good and lawfull money of great
Britain and also I give and bequeath unto Deborah the daughter of my said
brother Thomas Baston five pounds of the lawfull money both which said five
pounds to be paid so bequeathed by my Executor herein after named within a
twelve month after my decease. Also I give and bequeath unto my cousin
Thomas Baston son of my late brother William Baston all my right and
interest in a messuage and appurtenances belonging to the same which said
messuage and appurtenances was late in the tenure of Thomas Castle deceased who
before his death did surrender the said messuage with the appurtences to my use
as security for the payment of a sum of money by me left him. To hold my said
cousin Thomas Baston and his heirs for and during the said time that the money
remains unpaid and when the said money shall be paid I give and bequeath the
whole that is or shall be due to me at the time of payment to my said cousin
Thomas Baston and his heirs forever. Also I give and bequeath unto my
cousin John Baston son of my late brother John Baston five pounds of like

labourer deceased do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of
all and singular he goods, Chattels and Credits of the said deceased which have
or shall come to the hands, possession or knowledge of him the said Jno Baston
or into the hands and possession of any person or persons for him and the same
so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the registry of the above named
Archdeaconry Court in Oxon at or before the last day of August next ensuing and
the same Goods, Chattels and Credits and all other the Goods, Chattels and
Credits of the said deceased at the time of his death which at any time after
shall count to the hands or possession of the said Jno Baston or in to the hands
and possession of any other person or persons for him so will and truly
administer according to Law. And further do make or cause to be made a true and

births and deaths records and this must have been from them. I honestly cannot
remember where else it could have come from. Ron Baston 2006." (I have

Witnesseth that this said William Hulls, Joseph Large and Humphrey Porter for
and in consideration of five shillings apiece of good and lawful money of Great
Britain to them by the said Joseph Shurey in hand well and truly paid and
satisfied at or before this sealing and in delivery of those present the receipt
where of is hereby acknowledged.
Have and oath of every of them Hath

the appurtenances situate lying and being in Bampton aforesaid in the said

parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Joseph
Shurey his Executors Administrators and assigns from this day next before the
day of the date of those present for and during and unto this full end and term
of our whole year hence next ensuing fully to be compleat and ended yielding and
paying therefore the rent of our pepper corn on the last day of the said term
(if lawfully demanded so)
To the intent that (by virtue of those
present and by force of the statute for transferring used into possession) this
said Joseph Shurey may be in the actual possession of all and singular the said

the appurtenances unto my said kinswoman Martha Carter her Executor
Administration and assigns for and during all the residue and remainder of my
Estate term or terms and interest which shall be therein then to come and
unexpired. Also I give and bequeath unto my kinsman John Baston, William
Baston, Jonathan Baston, Edward Baston and Francis Baston sons of my late
brother William Baston the sum or legacy of five shillings apiece to be paid
within three months next after my decease. And as for and concerning all my
goodes, Chattels, ready money, debts owing to me and personal estate of what
nature or kind so ever which shall remain after payment of all my just debts
legacies and funeral expenses, I give and bequeath the same unto my said wife
Sarah Baston to and for her own separate use and benefit. And I do hereby
make constitue and appoint my said wife sole executrix of this my last will
hereby revoking all former wills by me heretofore made. In Witness whereof I

pounds of like lawfull money. All which sums of five pounds above named and
bequeathed my will is that my executor herein after named shall pay the same as
above given and bequeathed within a twelve month after my decease. All the
rest of my goods and chattels of what nature or kind so ever my debts being paid
and my funeral expenses discharge I give and bequeath unto my said sister
