Ancestors of Jane Louisa BASTON of Andover, Hampshire, UK

Notes

1024. William BASTON

1703 Born Bampton, Oxfordshire.
1704 baptised in St Mary's Bampton.
1726 Married in All Saints Church, Oxford.
1769 mentioned in a deed of sale for land in Bampton
1771 Death & burial in Bampton.
1777 Mention of his children in his brother Jonathan Baston's will.

It looks as though on William's death, his son William inherited the house in Broad Street, Bampton, this in turn went to his son Francis and the land at Buckland to his son Thomas,  William's (1704) great grandson, John Baston is shown as still living in Broad Street in the 1861 census with his wife Jane (Kitchener).

512. Robert BASTON

Name of Robert introduced into family from Elizabeth Skinners father's name.

512. William BASTON

1777 Mention in his uncle Jonathan Baston's will
1819 Mentioned in brother Francis' will (both a John & Jonathan are separately mentioned).

512. John (Bason) BASTON

We know for Elizabeth's 1742 Will that William had a son named John and that is why he is added in here.
There is an entry in the registers for Ardington for a John being received into the Church 17th January 1779 and also a burial entry for a John 14th April 1779 although this may be a base child to one of his daughters?

512. Thomas (Bason) BASTON

1817 Mentioned in brother Francis' will.

512. Edward BASTON

1777 Mention in his uncle Jonathan Baston's will
1817 Mentioned in brother Francis' will.

512. Francis (Bason) BASTON

1777 Mention in his uncle Jonathan Baston's will

572. James ROTHWELL

OCCUPATION: Labourer - 1815 baptism of daughter Martha

1152. John MAY

Name from Jonathan's baptism in 1730
NOTE:  John's two marriages at "Fleet Prison" doesn't mean he was in prison.  The Fleet Prison was an area in London near to the prison that was popular for dubious marriages by non conformist preachers.

1153. Ann STEVENS

Ann was "of Ringmer" in the marriage register so she is probably one of the following:-
Ann Stevens baptised 19 November 1704 Buxted to John Stevens (7 Miles to Ringmer).
Anne Stevens baptised 18 July 1708 Ditchling to John & Damiris Stevens (7 miles to Ringmer).
Ann Stevens baptised 2 February 1713/14 Waldron to Joseph & Ann Stevens (7 mile to Ringmer).
Mary Stevens baptised 30 January 1714/15 Ilsfield to Henry & Anne Stevens (possibly using name of Ann?) (3 miles to Ringmer).
Ann Stevens baptised 5th April 1717 Salehurst, Sussex to Jonathan & Abigail (18 miles to Ringmer).

1536. Thomas PEGRUM

1537. Rebecca, Deborah or Roberta LANGTON?

1792. Thomas HOLMAN

I'm still researching so if you have anything to add or correct then
please email Baston Family Genealogy

Please mention the RIN number attached to a person's name as it is very difficult for me to know for which John, William, Thomas, Edward etc you wish to have more information.

Thank you
