William Baston as the only tax payer in the Bampton Hundred and therefore
the head of the household and had taken over the home from his father,
Henry.

Probably the wife of John is called Joan as it is a preferred
name for the next couple of generations and there is also a burial for about
the right date.

The only Edmonds/Edmunds family I can find that has a Joan as
wife is Richard & Joan Edmonds of Black Bourton, perhaps Humphrey was also
known as Richard.
If so then the following events have been noted at Black Bourton.
12th April 1567 Burial of Joan d of Richard.
6th July 1567 Baptism of Elizabeth to Richard.
20th April 1572 Baptism of Joan to Richard.
22nd May 1574 Baptism of Agnes to Richard.
11th March 1603 Burial of Richard.
14th July 1608 Burial of Joan, widdow of Richard.
30th November 1611 Burial of Joan Edmonds (Joan born 1567?).

William who married Elizabeth Rime in St Mary's Church, Bampton
on 16th January 1561 added in here as it is the most likely place, can't be
the William Baptised in 1540 as he was buried same year. Might also be a
re-marriage for William born about 1500 and who was buried in 1574.
