Baston Family Genealogy

Baston family of Hackney, Shoreditch and Whitechapel, London from 1785, originally from Bampton, Oxfordshire

Descendants of Edward Basson & Ann Birt of Culham married 1778.

I did have Edward & Ann linked into the main family via Thomas & Sarah Baston of Clanfield but recent finds make this connection unreliable. Evidence has come to light linking Edward & Ann more with the Berkshire Basson/Basdens of the Swallowfield & Shinfield area. For instance, a Poor Law removal order in 1820 for Edward's son, Edward who married Mary Gibbs, moves him from Culham, Oxfordshire back to Shinfield, Berkshire which suggests this is the area from which the family originated.
