Baston Family Genealogy

Baston family of Hackney, Shoreditch and Whitechapel, London from 1785, originally from Bampton, Oxfordshire

Descendants of Henry & Elizabeth Basson of Wolvercote, Oxfordshire born c1753

There was quite a large contingent of Baston/Basson's in Oxfordshire in the 1600 and 1700's and this line covers the Baston's of Wolvercote, who as yet are unlinked.  This line may also come from the Burson's of Milton & Shipton under Wychwood, Oxfordshire or from the Bastin's of Reading, Berkshire.

The families other than my direct line need proving, I have tried to sort out the various families using the data contained in the various wills and deeds and matching that to the known baptisms/marriages and deaths. There are various baptisms etc missing from the records despite being mentioned in the wills and deeds. This could either be in the early 1600's when the copying of the 1538 - 1613 paper registers onto parchment was done as they were in a poor state or some of the baptisms may have been at Clanfield and/or Shifford, where in both cases all the early registers were destroyed by damp.

Individuals marked with a red dot in the following pages are direct ancestors of Adam Luke John and Jane Louisa Baston and with a magenta dot direct ancestors of Kealey Rose Baston & Tyler Howard. Names with a "?" after them are either unknown or unreadable. For privacy reasons, date of Birth, Marriage or Death for persons still believed to be living are not shown.
